A Court of Wings and Ruin begins the story right from the intense ending of A Court of Mist and Fury, with Feyre back in Tamlin’s court. Some other new courts are introduced and some intriguing new characters. Alliances are formed and real motives are uncovered in this 700 page novel.
You will see a significant growth in the character of Feyre grows in this book. She’s even more badass, more snarky and learns a lot. She also stands up for herself, which was nice to see. Lucien, is redeemed a bit after his cop outs in the last two books. Sarah made the character basically disappear halfway through the story. Nesta and Elain are still fairly flat and annoying just like the previous book, but in this book, A Court of Wings and Ruin, they do play a little more into the story and have purposes. They even get a little bantering and romance. But, Maas could have done so much more with them by making them more dynamic.
Mass has written A Court of Wings and Ruin in her know signature style. There are one obstacle after another. One attack after another. One tender moment after another. A Court of Wings and Ruin is twisty and turny and full of emotional ups and downs. Exactly what you want in this kind of read.
